Here's another one Senor Antonio shared with me the other day (he seems to collect them).
I was walking home past the prison a few nights ago when I heard a noise overhead. I looked up to see a dwarf in prison uniform climbing out of a window and starting to climb down a rope made of knotted sheets.
It was a precarious situation and he was proceeding very gingerly. I felt impelled to call up and ask if I could do anything for him.
"If I want your help, I'll ask for it," he snapped back at me.
So I turned and walked away, thinking, "Well, that's a little con descending."
You must be fans of Tim Vine and Milton Jones, they do this ALL THE TIME. OK, I admit it, I wish I was a master of the pun too.
No, never heard of them. British radio hosts, perhaps?
I am happily ignorant of just about all popular culture in the UK from the last 10 years or so. It was only on my recent return that I discovered, for example, that someone seems to have introduced a new rule that all stand-up comedians must now be camp but not funny. I used to enjoy camp comedians, but this new crop are just excruciating - what is going on with the world?
